I'm going to try and build a Melquiades type amplifier (with some help from friends) following the advice given above to make it as simple as possible. I could spend more money for "different" transformer, but I will ask you for advice on...
What I wish to do is to take the Cessaro Gamma for my model, substituting Vitavox and Ale drivers for the TAD ones that Cessaro employ due to the (I believe) greater musicality of the former, and using the Acapella tweeter in...

Thank you, Jorge, for comment. I'm definitely going for wood horns. For my ear it has no coloration in compare with other material. Only for experiments I'm using what is available ready.Regarding driver for 300Hz, which one will you suggest to try ?...

That is exactly what I was counting at and it has happened. Measuring this morning the resonance frequency I saw that it dropped from 43.7Hz to 38.7Hz. That is very very good, though I expected even more drop for a 2-3Hz during next week or two. My h...

As I said, my 18-cell has that interesting depth or multi-dimensionality effect that I do like a lot. I know the sound of my Vitavox drivers and I know that I do not have this effect with my spherical horns. I would like to think a bit about the natu...
What is that round yellow thing in the right corner of the picture? A driver of some sort?
Yes, they are Fane 24” bass driver with 24Hz primary resonance. I am waiting for the final sound check; the final is long time ...

I have also been working on a pair of Macondo-inspired horn-speakers. Horns from Stereo Lab, but with horn-drivers from JBL, rather than the elusive Vitavox. I hold Romy's forum in very high regard because of the content-standard of the posted messag...

Hm, very different and very opposite result, interesting. Are you using the same S2 diaphragm as I do – the metal suspension? If yes then it would be the only one explanation that I might come up with.
Sometime the compression drivers with horn form...

The other possibility is that the MF issues can be the problem with the JBL 2441 rather than the amplifier, and it would behoove me to explore the Vitavox driver.

other "super arms" (in terms of price ) do have some , "stand by itself" inherent intellectual value which Schroeder totally lacks. And also personal prejudice seems to blind his objective judgement. Apart from that the question remains if the ar...

Bud, perhaps it does makes sense to try the “dotizm” one again. I quite severely review my view on the way in wish I use tweeter. I still am trying to make T350 to work, let see what I end up with. Nowadays my T350 sitting in 3rd order crossover, it ...

Look what you have done to jack up pricess of vitavox (nobody was buying before your wistle) , Micro Seiki (gathering dust after Art Dudley wrote they bored the hell out of him) meittner dacs (suddenly the most musical in the market ;) Lamms (which a...

When i Moved in my new house in july 2000, it took me 6 months to get my speakers and general system togeather and working. The narrow band that your vitavox 15 inchers will be working in, how does that relate to your infinite baffle? 60Hz to 350Hz i...

You mentioned it yourself that the most interesting midbass you ever heard was from corner horns. Why not utilize if you can a pair of K-horns (or clones) bass (midbass really) bins with sort of moveable fake corners? They can be found dirty cheap th...

I do not think that you really can trust an answer from someone willing to tell you what to do. Sure, the Klughorn is a great thing, but I have never heard it suitable integrated - which says NOTHING about the horn and driver but a lot about those us...

I am still here still trying to work it out. Read your mid bass horns article again. Learned a bit more. You right about open baffle I once foolishly sold everything I owned to buy a pair of km30. They never sounded good until one day...

GOTO make me feel it renders the musicians like they are ghosts. They are all in there but floating and slightly transparent.I think the reason for that is GOTO does very interesting things at highs and mid-highs but while it goes down at the frequen...

There is a pair on eBay of Vitavox S2 drivers with 400Hz Tractrix StereoLab horns, the item 300372010439. I usually do not like to make comments about eBay things but I think it begged to be said. The driver and the horns looks fine for 1000Hz channe...

I recently completed some upper bass horns which I'm now enjoying very much. Sadly I lack the skills of someone like Jessie so my efforts are crude in comparison, but they are working well for me which is the main thing.I already had some old frontlo...
Do not worry, you won’t be happy with your new speakers

give happiness.
In my case only speakers can give me happiness, because with e...

As I'm crossing Red Driver now and feeling up the space at the bottom by 15 in Vitavox I do have extremely surprising for me Dynamics. With abrapt dynamic range changed sound jumps out of Remedius like a wounded in the ass gazelle. I am not kidding i...

Romy, I was asking questions here, and @ RMAF because I'm trying to gather enough information to build compression drivers. At my day job I am a prototype machinist at Los Alamos National Lab. I don't plan on going into production, j...

It is really amassing, how Melquiades takes recordings apart, literally and rebuild then in own manner! I never see anything like this, and I believe that I have seen something in audio.
Melquiades does something entirely unprecedented: it retrofit...

For all S2 fans... please be aware that seller "milesvintage2007" was claiming to have found a load of diaphragms in an old cinema (yeah, lots of those running Vitavox in Hong Kong, I'm sure...*)Even forged the labels on the tins... He has since remo...
